Scottish Government Central Heating and Warm Deal Programmes
Warm Deal Programme:-
Warm Deal improves the energy efficiency of the homes of low-income families. In addition to tackling one of the main causes of fuel poverty (homes with poor energy efficiency), the programme also contributes to health and environmental objectives.
Homes that are easier to heat will lower the incidence of cold related illnesses and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) the primary cause of climate change caused by human activity.
If you or your spouse is in receipt of certain income-related benefits, or are age 60 or over, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £500 to have your home insulated under the Scottish Government Warm Deal. If you are aged 60 or over and not in receipt of income –related benefits, you can get a smaller grant of up to £125.
The Home Energy Efficiency (Scheme) Scotland Regulations, effective from January 2007, also extended the Warm Deal Programme to households with children with disabilities and receiving the Disability living allowance. These homes can have free insulation measures up to a value of £500.
